We had a lovely summer vacation between the two semesters. First, we packed our bags and headed to Newnan to see Nonna, Opa, and Aunt Ruthie for a week. The weather was hot, hot, hot but we spent most afternoons at the community pool. Gubby even had a chance to go fishing with Opa in the backyard lake before we left. Aunt Ruthie was busy working on her classroom at her new job and was able to fill her room with bright colors and warmth. We had to leave after a few days but the kids had a great time!
Once we returned to Tallahassee, we relaxed for a few days and then repacked the car to head to Port Orange to see Memere and Pawpaw. This time, my friend Eunyoung joined us. Eunyoung is another PhD student in my Social Work program-we were long overdue for a vacation! We surprised Mere at work a day early and were able to spend three sunny mornings at the world's most famous beach. Gubby and Emmy played in the toddler pool in the front yard, enjoyed popsicles, and played with Eric building train tracks. Gubby and Emmy even got to see Aunt Christa, Aunt Dona, and Aunt Molly. Despite the long journey, we had a nice time and returned home with a few days remaining before the fall semester kicks into full swing.

It's been a year
Well, almost. I must apologize for my slacking off with my blog posts. I have been busy with school and Mike has been expanding Mike's CDs & DVDs online (and throughout the house!). I have a few new pictures and plan to take a few videos over the next few weeks but wanted to make sure I didn't leave this blog to rot! I never posted pictures from our trip to Disney this past Christmas and have been sifting through them. Some of the expressions on Emmy are priceless.

What a Wonderful World
Don't give me any grief for not having posted in four months-we've been working hard!
1. Mike's Amazon store is busier than ever-our whole house is full of inventory!
2. I got into the Ph.D. program at FSU in the College of Social Work
3. Kiddos started full-time daycare and are loving it!
Initially the transition was difficult but Gabriel only took about four days to become acclimated and Emmy was good to go about two weeks later. Granted, this summary is so very brief (as I should be reading the textbook in front of me) but I wanted to assure to everyone we are still alive and doing great!

Movie time!
Ok-I'm a bit lagging but here is Easter, Emmy's fascination with Gubby's hat, Emmy and Gubby playing hide and seek, and Emmy walking :)

Welcome to the Lake...and then some.
We recently returned from a fun-filled week near Atlanta at Nonna and
Opa's house and are just barely regaining normalcy. Here's a tiny tidbit
of what we did when we were there...
Plus-Emmy has been walking since 5/9/12 with increasing regularity and she had her first bowl of pasta with marinara sauce (a la face) that same night!
Here's a few of our crafting accomplishments as well, a lovely wreath for Mere and a gorgeous addition for Rudi's bathroom, too! Plus, a few shots of Baldwin the bathroom monster...he's been tough to track, but sightings increase near bedtime...or so the toilet paper trail leads us to believe.

What's this?
Ok-so many things have been going on here at the Prost Haus-most of which are new! Emmy obviously turned one last month and there are two videos below of her cake and her presents which were too cute! Lots of people came including a bunch of our neighbors, many playmates, and Mere, Pawpaw, and Grandpa Chris and Maureen. She received tons of cute clothes and some neat toys, too. Emmy did take a few steps on her own for the first time a few days ago while walking from me to Mike, but she's yet to just walk on her own (you know, just toddling around the house). Most of the time she just holds on to the couch, train table, or hassock until she can't hold on anymore than she rockets across the room crawling like a fool. We'll be sure to get a video soon!

Savannah
I didn't get around to posting this fast enough but Christa and I had a really good time on our vacation despite the tornado sirens, hacking coughs, and rain-soaked clothing...check out these pics from our insider trip to the Copper Corgi studio (YARN!!)

And yes, that is that is Penny (the official mascot of Copper Corgi), a gorgeous clearly unloved Pembroke Welsh Corgi...I still have her hair on my purse...not to mention I am not allowing myself to buy yarn until next year. :)
We arrived in stormy weather but relaxed a bit before donning our walking gear and rain gear to head uptown to another yarn store, Wild Fibre-had fun there, got some neat stuff, heard some new music. Then we dolled around the area until Mass at the gorgeous St. John the Baptist Cathedral (so beautiful!). We then walked probably another mile (all of this is in the rain, while we're both sick, and the temperature continues to plummet) for hibachi and soup. Mmmm....
We retreat to our bed and breakfast (the lovely Forsyth Park Inn) for lemon filled vanilla cupcakes and board games after our hot showers. We then go upstairs to sleep-but the Christa coughs her head off til 2am. Luckily she took an antihistamine to help her sleep; wish it helped me! Just kidding, Christa, I love you still!
We awoke to fantastic weather and walked through Forsyth Park with all the trendy folks and their insanely well behaved dogs AND children (something in the water, I gather) and got some coffee at a local joint. This was all after a great breakfast of yogurt, homemade granola, a fresh tomato basil frittata, with oj and tea. We jumped in the car that Christa worked SO hard at parallel parking (WOOT!) and went to riverside to buy some overpriced souvenirs and local honey. Plus, we had pizza at Sweet Melissa's, a local parlor directly across the street from Paula Deen's 'Lady and Son's' restaurant for a whopping $5! We got to snicker at the folks paying that for a drink across the way as our arms stuck to sticky counters and we feared the college style restroom of our lunch choice...
After a relaxing Cheez-it and leftover lunch, we headed south to the Starland district to check out yet another yarn store (yes, that's three over the course of the weekend), Unwind, and had fun with the local needlefolk. Onwards to the Byrd's Cookie Company for some delightful tiny cookies by the ounce and our last stop at the Copper Corgi (the pictures above). We returned home, and prepared ourselves for our ghost tour via trolley on that chilly night. We got to tour the city and learn about the bizarre happenings of America's Most Haunted City (American Paranormal Society)? and walk about the Sorrel-Weed house. Our host was humorous to say the least and we had a good time catching up on some of the local history. We even were able to see Jim Waters' home from the film "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil"...fun, fun! We returned home to eat some chocolate covered strawberries and partake in an awful game of 'war'.
We checked out Monday morning after awesome french toast and fresh fruit and headed home the same way we came.
It was truly lovely. The kids did great with dad all weekend and their limbs were intact when I returned. Christa and I hope to make it an annual trip.
